To be present, or absent. . .

To be present, or absent, which one do I want?
Either way I’m going to be miserable
The ridiculousness of the rich and famous
Or to put out the light of day,
No more. Kill me – closed eyes-
Forever; end sadness
Bad happenings will occur no more
For me, or my body to go through. It’s a big
Possibility I’m considering. To die is
Like sleeping, when you sleep you dream.
But if I die I won’t dream.
This continually runs through my mind,
The second thoughts are always there
They haunt us still we do something about it,
Why do we put up with growing pains in life?
Mean insults, heartbreaks,
And governmental flaw’s.
Why do bad things happen to the good?
I could call it quits with one simple blade?
Why keep holding the pain inside, about to burst,
But then what? Seems too simple--
I have not explored my life fully
I will not complete my bucket list
The frightening thought of death
Makes us all cowards,
Too much thinking adds in loads of frustration on the brain
The craziness puts me to a halt.
But shhh, Ophelia is arriving!
I hope she has remembered me in her prayer.

Thanksgiving

Thankful, thankful am I
For Thanksgiving Day. Browns,
oranges, and gold.
Time off from school before and after.
Anticipation of familiar smells and tastes.
The aroma of the browning, buttered, turkey,
filled with onion and sage stuffing, the homemade
dinner rolls puffed up like clouds smelling of yeast
and allspice and cinnamon wafting from the
pumpkin pie.
Grace, good company, good cheer, and football.
Nap time, a perfect fuzzy day!

It's just not fair when . . .

Top ten things that just aren’t fair in life!

It’s just not fair when . . .

1)      People do, in fact, judge a book by its cover.
-It is a fact that book covers are what catch people’s attention! The bright colors and interesting subject on the cover is what is appealing to people’s eyes. Unfortunately many people are guilty of this, but we need to start opening that front cover and reading what the true meaning of the book is.

2)      You can calculate hours instead of miles to reach a family member.
-It is rough being such a great distance from a family member. I am a couple states away from both of my brothers, niece, and sister-in-law but I wish every day that it would be different. The one thing I have to remember is I am only far in miles but not so far in the heart.

3)      Bad things happen to good people.
-I’ve always been told that things happen for a reason, but sometimes it’s hard to believe. Sickness seems to be what gets to us. I still wonder why such a great, lively, young person can be diagnosed with cancer; I hope we don’t have to wonder much longer. The best we can do is pray and help that person fight it!

4)      My parents give me a curfew.
-I am going to be leaving for college here pretty soon, and I just can’t understand my parents reasoning to be home at a certain time. I do understand they are concerned about my safety but what are they going to do in a couple months when I am in college at MSU or even another state! Parents need to come to a realization that a curfew may no longer be necessary by the end of their child’s senior year!

5)      My friends do something fun while I have to work.
-It’s a win lose situation. I do enjoy that flow of income every month but to be guaranteed this I have to make choices. I took on the responsibility of having a job for money just for me. It is tough going to work knowing my friends are having a ball without me, but by the time I have a day off and that spare cash in my pocket I couldn’t be happier.

6)     I don’t have a say.
-It seems to be a thing when parents are able to tell you when and when not they want your opinion. Sometimes I tend to be very opinionated and tell you what I think. I really like to do this with my brothers but running my mouth gets me in trouble. I’d like everything to go my way, but we all know that’s not possible for anyone.

7)      Females tend to get paid less then males.
-In statistical ratings it proves that women tend to get paid less then men. I think this is very sexist and should be changed. Women are capable of being harder workers then some men. Some of us may contain higher levels of education and have more experience which will hopefully earn the women more annual income.

8)      Death occurs.
-This terrible word happens to everyone, there’s no escaping it. No one knows what it’s like beyond a lifetime. Losing a loved one can feel like a pebble just crushed you. It’s something we’ve learned to deal with.  We just need to remember the saying, live everyday as if it were your last and to live, laugh, and love often!

9)      Girls have crazy emotions.
-Being a girl you get to experience your emotions as if you were on a roller coaster for longer then three minutes. It is a normal thing for girls to be sensitive and take everything to heart. I always wonder if boys ever feel this way, but it’s not fair when it is more noticeable on girls.

10)  Boy’s just don’t understand.
-The female’s brain is like a plate of spaghetti, it’s all twisted but we know what’s going on. Guy’s brains are like a waffle; they all have their little compartments and only can think that way. It would be a difficult task for a male’s brain to function like ours, which is why it is so frustrating for women when they have to explain something to a person of the opposite gender. The little things women value most the guys tend to never get!

A common silly dispute!

*Typical argument between my mother and I consists of the fact that I seem to never change the toilet paper roll when it is out.

Mom: LINDI KATE!
Me: What!?
Mom: I have to tell you every time to put a new roll of toilet paper on when you use it all.
Me: You seem to purposely have it close to the end when I go! It's just easier to leave it and the next person                                 can change it!
Mom: It doesn’t kill brain cells to change it!
Dad: Smiling (Ha)
Me: Mom it wasn’t even me!
Mom: Yes it was, go change it now!
Dad: Continues to laugh. . .
Me: Dad! Stop; tell mom right now it was you, that’s not fair I always get blamed for everything!
Dad: Fine, I’ll go do it.
Me: See mom, it’s not always me, dad doesn’t do stuff too!
Mom: Ugh, you guys are too much alike!
Dad: (: (high five Lin) right on, we know how to push your mom's buttons ha ha ha.

Most embarrassing moment in another persons view. . .

I come home from work and there is a car parked in my driveway. I was a little surprised she was at our house. I have no where to park my stang! I bust open the door and their movie is just ending, therefore she is leaving our house now, well she cannot leave because I am parked directly behind her. Should I be a bad word and not move or should I move so she doesn’t hit my car? Well I decide I better move it. So I go out and pull my mustang forward so she can back out. I don’t know what she was doing, but I was watching her the entire time. She pulled out backwards like an idiot and runs over our rock landscape at the end of our driveway! It mad a loud scraping sound underneath her car, definitely did not sound good. Ha I just looked at her and said “that’s embarrassing!” She always asks if she can get behind the wheel of my car, but she will never get to after that incident. I bet she’s bummed and feels like a retard!
-Max

Cars do not belong anywhere near rocks (:
P.S. I didn't want to hit his nice car so I didn't back into him (: and there was no damage to my car!

Dear William,

I have decided to write you due to the fact that I have finished reading one of your most popular plays. To me, I have found your writings a bit challenging to read and comprehend, but with my fellow classmates and teacher I think we were able to discuss the situations within the story. We read Othello. Even though it was a tragedy, there were many twists to lead us readers to wonder. We had to keep reading to figure out the “two faced” ways of Iago. There was so much drama and multiple controversies between people that we just had to keep reading! I do have a few questions for you William. One, how did you think of something like this, was there a point of time in your life when you felt like one of these characters? Two, did you think Othello was going to be a hit? To me this suspenseful story got me to want to read more of your plays and actually watch them be performed live. As a reader I want to find out more historical background of where these ideas of yours came about.

Sincerely,

            Lindi DeMars

Princess Me. . .

If I had to compare myself to a Disney Character I would have to say I resemble Princess Belle the most. First, let’s state the obvious. I don’t like mice so I wouldn’t be hanging with them in the attic (Cinderella). I don’t eat apples from strangers or have 7 little men around me (Snow White), and I definitely do not have sea shells glued to my ta ta’s! So that must mean I have to be somewhat like Belle. I’ve go the brunette hair, I’m pretty good at complaining, and I think we’ve got matching dresses! I can say I have not found my “Beast” yet but one day I hope it’s just as a love story as hers! (:

September 11th Poem

9-11 attacks is now a fact
Twin Towers stood up high,
then you saw people die.
I was only in second grade,
but it’s a memory that’ll never fade.
The morning of fate
now has a specific date.
One that will never be forgotten,
as we think terrorists are rotten!
We must go to war.
It’s now a chore.
Our soldiers are protecting us in Afghanistan,
and running the AlQuida out of Pakistan
We will never be the same.
The USA must always be on top of its game.

Desdemona's Cookie

He loves me, he loves me not, he loves me, he loves me not, he loves me, he loves me not. . . Rewind, No! It’s not one of those fairytale, flower picking love stories. This is true love, like Oreo and its filling which seems totally okay, but not in this time! I love Othello for who he is and his tragic story of his past made me fall in love. Then there’s this vanilla cookie (Roderigo) who wants me to be his white filling, yes only his. Not only do I deny because Oreos are so much better, but my giant glass of milk (father Barbantio) disagrees that Roderigo is the cookie for me! Come to find out my father is out on a hunt to drown the other half of me, Othello! I am crushed that the love of chocolate and white filling can’t be perfectly “dipped” for the glass of milk!

A Magical Moment In Art

Summer of 2005 I was the most excited little girl in Big Timber. I arrived at my Dad’s shop, where he and my mother broke the news to me that I would get to experience my first airplane ride to California to go to the “Happiest place in the world, Disney Land!” When we arrived and my jaw dropped to the ground. This little girl, which was me, was totally overwhelmed not only by the Disney characters but by the beautiful Princesses. That wasn’t all! My parents took me to a play. Yes my first real Disney play. I could hardly hold still I was so excited, pink flower petals were floating down from the ceiling. I was in the land of Snow White. I started grabbing the petals from the air and off of the ground as fast as I could. They made great souvenirs, which I can say I still have! We enjoyed the play so much we ended up going to the evening showing of Aladdin. This play continued with my art experience of seeing the real “magic carpet” soaring above the audience!
